Nigerian producer Tempoe has received Spotify’s 1 Billion Streams plaque for his work on CKay’s global hit, “Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah).” The recognition marks another milestone for one of the most successful songs to come out of Nigeria, celebrating its achievement of more than one billion streams on the platform.
The song remains the first and so far only solo Nigerian record to reach the billion-stream mark on Spotify, highlighting its lasting impact years after its release.
Photos shared from the presentation show Tempoe posing with the black commemorative plaque, engraved with Spotify’s logo and the inscription, “In Recognition of 1,000,000,000 Streams.”

Originally released in 2019 as part of CKay’s CKay the First EP, “Love Nwantiti” was co-produced by Tempoe and CKay. The song paired melodic production with a heartfelt delivery, creating a sound that would later become one of the biggest international success stories for Nigerian music.
Its global breakthrough came in 2021 after gaining traction on TikTok, where millions of users embraced the song. Several international remixes, alongside sustained organic discovery across streaming platforms, helped expand its reach to audiences worldwide. The record went on to peak at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, entered the UK Top 3, and earned multiple certifications, including 8× Platinum in the United States.
The original version eventually surpassed one billion Spotify streams in late 2025 as we shared in our post earlier.
Driven by consistent listening across markets including the United States, India, Indonesia, Brazil and the United Kingdom. The achievement reflects the song’s remarkable longevity in an industry where viral hits often fade quickly.
Although CKay remains the face of the record, the Spotify plaque also shines a light on Tempoe’s contribution behind the scenes. The Lagos-born producer began his career after transitioning from a background in technology and has since become one of the industry’s most respected hitmakers.

Beyond “Love Nwantiti,” Tempoe has built an impressive catalogue that includes Victony’s “Soweto,” Joeboy’s “Alcohol,” and Omah Lay’s “Godly,” “Understand,” and “Soso.” His production credits have accumulated hundreds of millions of streams and helped define the melodic direction of contemporary Nigerian pop music.
Receiving Spotify’s 1 Billion Streams plaque is more than a personal achievement for Tempoe. It serves as recognition of the producers whose work shapes some of the country’s biggest global records and reinforces the enduring success of one of Nigerian music’s most celebrated songs.
